The Brimstone Betsy ended up in 'Mothstorm' (by Philip Reeve and David Wyatt). Not, as originally conceived, a pirate warship, but part of the fleet of Snilth ships.
The Cloud Babies remain unused.

I'm planning on buying a tablet. Would you recommend a Cintiq or a Bamboo? There all sorts of reviews on the net, but I figure getting an expert opinion would be best, that's if you don't mind though.

I've not used a Cintiq, but I've heard good things about them from other illustrators (they aren't cheap, though).
Bamboo I've not heard of before, but it looks fun...

The only advice I can give about buying a tablet is you don't need a big one - I used to have an A3 size, but now I use an A5 which is fine.

Gotta admire the inking though. Loved the cover art for those books. Do you use a tablet to do your coloring work?

I use a Wacom - Photoshop and Painter depending on what look I fancy at the time...

Beautiful art. Must have taken a hell of a long time to ink.
You illustrated the mortal engines quartet and the Larklight trilogy? Have you done a graphic novel or comic?

Thanks.
Yes, Larklight was quite physically demanding as it was all inked with a dip pen. My eyes have never been the same since.
I started off in comics, but after a 20 year gap I'm drifting back to them and have a couple of projects on the go...
